More than 300,000 patients worldwide suffer from malignant primary brain tumors every year .
The aggressive biological behavior of HGGs is often accompanied by the destruction of the blood-brain barrier and continuous contrast enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) T1-weighted images, which highlights the role of gadolinium-enhanced MRI in neurotumor imaging.
TFE imaging before and after contrast enhancement is currently the most commonly used method to assess the enhancement and spread of tumor-related contrast agents.
Recently, a study published in European Radiology explored the value of contrast enhancement (CE) turbo spin echo black blood (BB) sequence in the imaging diagnosis of untreated high-grade gliomas (HGGs) , and The comparison with the diagnostic performance of the CE TFE sequence shows that CE BB imaging has more advantages in delineating tumor boundaries, showing tumor invasion of adjacent brain tissues and displaying satellite lesions.
A retrospective analysis of consecutive patients who were confirmed by histopathology as World Health Organization ( WHO) grade III or IV glioma and who had not undergone tumor treatment before imaging examination (March 2019 to January 2020).

The results of this study show that, compared with the existing TFE imaging, the BB sequence can significantly improve the delineation of the boundaries of HGGs, as well as the tumor's invasion of adjacent brain tissue and the display of satellite lesions.
