A recent study of patients with a history of HCC showed that 76.

Recently, a study published in the journal European Radiology determined the best non-invasive diagnostic criteria for subcentimeter HCC by using gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI, and evaluated its effects on untreated patients at risk of HCC and eligible for radical treatment.

This study included 110 patients with untreated subcentimeter disease at risk of HCC and eligible for radical treatment who underwent gadoxetate disodium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) between January 2013 and December 2013 ( n = 136).

The sensitivity of the revised criteria (presence of hepatocellular carcinoma, high enhancement in the arterial phase, and low signal in the equilibrium phase [TP]) was 61.

Based on the revised diagnostic criteria (concurrent HCC≥1cm, high enhancement in the arterial phase, low TP signal), the inclusion of sub-centimeter HCC evaluation can improve the accuracy of MR staging.
