A total of 29 PNES subjects were enrolled in the study, starting with a 4-week baseline period, then an 8-week active treatment period, during which subjects received ear acupuncture treatment twice a week, and then a 4-week sprint period.
As a result, 22 subjects entered the study, of which 91% completed more than 12 treatments (16 times in total), and 91% reached the endpoint of more than 80% completion.
In summary, the results of this study show that ear acupuncture is well tolerated in the PNES population and its safety is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
