[China Epoxy Resin Industry Online] April 13, 2006: The State Environmental Protection Administration announced on April 5 the mid-term results of the environmental risk investigation of chemical and petrochemical projects in major waters.
The results showed that: the chemical and petrochemical industries in major waters in China There is a relatively large layout environmental risk, and the corresponding prevention mechanism has obvious shortcomings.
In order to learn from the Songhua River water pollution incident and eliminate the outstanding environmental risks in the chemical and petrochemical industry, the State Environmental Protection Administration has organized national environmental protection agencies from February 7 to carry out 127 chemical and petrochemical construction projects located near environmentally sensitive areas with a total investment of 450 billion yuan The project has conducted risk investigation, and 20 of these projects are directly investigated by the State Environmental Protection Administration.
"The reason why the State Environmental Protection Administration selected 20 major projects for direct investigation is mainly because they are located in very sensitive locations and have major environmental hazards," said Pan Yue, deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration.
According to reports, 11 of these projects involve the Yangtze River system, one in the Yellow River system, two in Dalian Bay, one each in Dayao Bay, Jiaozhou Bay, and Hangzhou Bay, and one on the south coast.
These projects include not only major petrochemical projects such as oil refining and ethylene, but also popular chemical projects such as methanol and polycarbonate.
