Research Background
Radiation therapy is an important treatment option for patients with primary brain tumors or brain metastases
The authors' HipPro trial is a prospective, single-arm, single-center clinical study to evaluate hippocampal structure using MRI in patients with primary brain tumors undergoing radiation therapy; analysis of histopathologically confirmed WHO grade III or IV glia Structural changes in the hippocampus before and after standard radiation therapy in adult patients with tumor and its relationship to memory deficits
Research result
The study included 15 adult patients with WHO grade III or IV glioma who met the study requirements between September 2016 and April 2019
Analysis conclusion
Finally, the authors point out that regardless of whether there is a bidirectional relationship between affective changes and subjective cognitive dysfunction in brain tumor patients after radiotherapy, depressive symptoms are still an intervention target for improving quality of life
