Recently, researchers from the medical experimental center of the Chinese Academy of traditional Chinese Medicine published papers to observe and compare the effects of aging and hypertension on VSMCs and the dry preparation of ginseng, Panax notoginseng and Ligusticum chuanxiong extracts The results showed that aging and hypertension could cause VSMCs over proliferation and the expression of related cytokines The extract of ginseng, Panax notoginseng and Ligusticum chuanxiong could reduce the level of proliferation and the expression of negative cytokines, so as to reduce the damage of aging and hypertension to VSMCs and delay the aging of vascular cells This article was published in the 10th issue of Chinese Journal of integrated traditional and Western medicine in 2013 The VSMCs model of rat aorta was established by primary cell culture The aging experiment was divided into five groups: young control group (yon group), old group (old group), old + probucol group (old + Pro Group), old + low dose group (old + low group) and old + high dose group (old + high group) The hypertension experiment was divided into five groups: West ar Kyoto control group (WKY group), spontaneously hypertensive rats( SPR group, SHR + valsartan group, SHR + traditional Chinese medicine low dose group and SHR + traditional Chinese medicine high dose group The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), peroxisome proliferator activated receptor - γ (PPAR - γ) mRNA and protein were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot respectively Compared with yon group, VSMCs proliferation level and MMP-9 expression increased, PPAR - γ mRNA and protein expression decreased in old group (P < 0.05) Compared with old group, VSMCs proliferation level and MMP-9 expression in old + Pro Group, old + high group and old + low group decreased significantly, PPAR - γ mRNA expression increased significantly (P < 0.05), PPAR - γ protein expression in old + Pro Group and old + low group increased significantly (P < 0.05) Compared with WKY group, VSMCs proliferation level and MMP-9 expression in SHR group increased significantly, PPAR - γ mRNA and protein expression decreased significantly (P < 0.05); compared with SHR group, VSMCs proliferation level and MMP-9 expression in SHR + Val group, SHR + high group and SHR + low group decreased significantly, PPAR - γ mRNA and protein expression increased (P < 0.05).
