Dr. Jiang Yuming, President of Royal DSM Group China, attended the Bloomberg Future Energy Asia-Pacific Summit hosted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) in Shanghai today to share the importance of new energy and the good opportunities facing Chinese companies adopting sustainable development strategies with hundreds of key decision makers from the business, financial and public policy communities.
, as a corporate leader with sustainability at its core, Dr. Yuming Jiang, President of Royal DSM Group China, spoke about the Group's extensive experience in China's half-century of development. At the thematic forum entitled "Sustainable Development and the Current and Future of Energy Investment in Asia", Dr. Jiang discussed with the Expert Group the importance of sustainable development strategies for Chinese enterprises in the field of new and renewable energy .climate change is becoming more urgent, especially in China, the implementation of sustainable development strategy is imperative. "While China's economy continues to be a booster of global growth, it is also one of the most significant and vulnerable economies affected by climate change. Chinese companies not only need to comply with existing climate and environmental regulations, but also actively contribute to climate change and spontaneously seek solutions.
Asked when Chinese companies should move towards sustainable development, Dr Jiang revealed, "This historic moment has come, and today's companies must recognize the macro trends that have developed in the market to meet the many challenges facing society." It is clear that the Chinese government is investing at full speed in the development of new and renewable sources of energy. Wind and solar, for example, are expected to account for 35 per cent of the country's total energy by 2040. In addition, by 2020, the Chinese government intends to achieve the production and sale of 2 million new energy vehicles in order to develop a green transportation system. Dr Jiang added that in order to thrive in China's business environment, companies need to develop clear sustainable development strategies. "In the case of DSM, our strategy is goal-oriented, with an integrated and integrated development model that fulfils corporate responsibilities for the benefit of all stakeholders," Dr Jiang said. Internally, we also take sustainable development as a guide to action, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent and buying 75 per cent of renewable energy to supply electricity. Externally, we strongly support limiting fossil fuels and their negative impacts by increasing the use of biofuels and solar energy, and for achieving a mobile future by providing lightweight cars and promoting the spread of biofuels. Dr
Jiang also noted that as a goal-oriented global science company active in nutrition, health and green living around the world, DSM's scientific expertise and innovation will continue to help solve many of the world's serious challenges. He firmly believes that companies have the ability and deserve to play a key role in solving pressing problems in China and the world at large. Closer collaboration between the parties can create synergies to create the best solution for the world, which is contemporary and mutually significant.
