Recently, Corteva Agriculture and BASF announced a cooperation agreement to develop herbicide-tolerant soybean varieties and complementary herbicides for farmers in North America and beyond
.
The collaboration aims to provide a competitive alternative to manage resistant and difficult-to-control weeds through innovative trait combinations and durable modes of action
.
Farmers will benefit from a broader weed control program, as well as more quality options from Corteva and BASF seed brands

The collaboration aims to provide a competitive alternative to manage resistant and difficult-to-control weeds through innovative trait combinations and durable modes of action
.
Farmers will benefit from a broader weed control program, as well as more quality options from Corteva and BASF seed brands
.
The strategic cross-licensing agreement includes the development of new combinations of traits, as well as herbicide options for future weed control needs:
BASF will license its proprietary herbicide resistance PPO (protoporphyrinogen oxidase) gene to Corteva to develop a new combination of herbicide resistance traits
.
The portfolio will feature support for BASF's Liberty® (glufosinate-ammonium), Corteva's Enlist® herbicide (2,4-D choline with Colex-D® technology) and various glyphosate herbicide solutions as well as BASF's current All of these traits demonstrated good crop safety, as well as tolerance to PPO-inhibiting herbicides under investigation
.
BASF's PPO-inhibiting herbicides include Kixor®, Tirexor® and new PPO-inhibiting herbicides that BASF is developing

Dr.
Peter Eckes, President, R&D and Regulatory, BASF, said: "Our collaborative spirit is to drive innovation and make a difference for farmers
.
The combination of new PPO properties, leading herbicide products and herbicide lines will provide soybean growers with control over recalcitrant A new option for sexual weeds
.
This partnership will also strengthen the branded soybean seed business

"Providing soybean growers with the best herbicide for their operations to address weed challenges is one of our top priorities," said Dr.
Sam Eathington, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology and Digital Officer, Corteva Agriculture
.
"Enlist E3® soybeans have been proven across the U.

While these expanded collaboration agreements are separate from each other, they complement the companies' recently announced plans to develop Enlist E3® soybeans with nematode-resistant soybean (NRS) traits
.
The NRS trait, combined with market-leading innovative weed management tools, provides soybean growers with management tools to protect against nematode pests

Development of additional soybean trait combinations for new herbicides
Development of additional soybean trait combinations for new herbicides BASF has also signed a long-term agreement with Corteva to develop an additional portfolio of soybean traits, including BASF’s Liberty and PPO herbicides, Corteva’s Enlist herbicide, glyphosate and another new herbicide BASF is developing Tolerability of the mode of action
.
BASF will develop a new combination of soybean traits with tolerance to five herbicides, including Corteva's mutually licensed 2,4-D choline gene, to provide growers with unprecedented control of resistant weeds scheme
.
This long-term collaboration between the two companies will provide soybean growers with a highly competitive alternative until 2040
