COVID-19 is an emerging infectious disease
caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

This study was a single-center retrospective study
of patients admitted to hospital with SARS-COV2 infection.

A total of 162 patients hospitalized for SARS-COV2 infection (92 males and 70 females, with a mean age of 64.

This study shows that thoracic and abdominal sarcopenia is independently associated with an increased risk of hospitalization in intensive care units, suggesting the need to evaluate for sarcopenia
at admission during SARS-COV2 infection.
