The Table Grape Committee of the Association of Chilean Fruit Exporters (ASOEX) has released its latest forecast for Chilean table grape exports for the 2022/23 season, with shipments of table grapes from Chile this season at 66,920,661 tonnes, down 10% from the previous season and 2.
    5%
below the Commission's estimate in its second forecast last October.
At the same time, shipments of new grape varieties continued to perform well, accounting for more than
    half of total exports.

Regarding the decrease in shipments, ASOEX President Iván Marambio explained that although the latest forecast shows a decline in volumes, it is caused by the upgrading of varieties and actually reflects the positive transformation
that the Chilean table grape industry is undergoing.
The grape industry has been upgrading its varieties for some time, and the results are being seen, with more than 50% of Chile's table grape exports this season going to be new varieties
    .

Iván Marambio said that the Chilean grape industry launched the upgrading of varieties more than a decade ago, a move that will reach a milestone this season, a new record
for the export of new varieties.

According to the new forecast, Chile will export 36,251,172 cases of new varieties, 19,513,322 cases of traditional varieties and 11,156,167 cases of Red Globe grapes
    to the world.
The share of Red Earth varieties in exports is getting smaller, down 25%
    compared to the previous season.

Among the new varieties, the red variety led with 17,599,994 cases shipped, with Timco, Allison and Sweet Celebration being the most prominent
    .
The white variety is a close second, with an estimated 14,125,520 cases, led by ARRA 15, Timpson and Sweet Globe
    .
The new black variety is 4,525,657 boxes, with Sweet Favors, Sable Seedless and Sweet Saphe being the dominant varieties
    .

In terms of export destinations, Ignacio Caballero, coordinator of the commission, said the United States will continue to be the main export market
    for Chilean table grapes.
About 40 million boxes are expected to be shipped to the United States, 15 million to Asia, 9 million to Europe and 6 million to other destinations
such as Latin America and the Middle East.

Caballero also noted that forecasts vary based on external variables that affect grape production, harvestable volumes, dates and export destinations, such as weather conditions, freight costs, available workers and changes in global logistics
    .
According to the Commission's plan, there will be a fourth forecast
    by the end of December.
