Recently, the Chilean Blueberry Council and consulting firm iQonsulting jointly published the estimated export volume
of Chilean blueberries for the 2022/23 season.
Shipments of fresh blueberries this season are expected to be 98,228 tonnes, down 8%
    from the previous season.

Regarding the export volume reduction, Andrés Armstrong, executive director of the Blueberry Council, explained that thanks to the efforts of the committee and its affiliates, the Chilean blueberry industry has been integrating technology and adjusting its product supply
to the current competition in the international market.
One of their actions is to renew varieties, leaving some varieties for frozen export and other industrial uses, while planting new varieties of better quality after harvest, thus bringing out the flavor and sweetness
    characteristic of Chilean blueberries.

He also said that the export of fresh blueberries suffered major logistical problems last season, which in turn accelerated the adjustment
    of national supply.
Although logistics services are expected to improve significantly this season, exports will be reduced and the quality of blueberries will be given special attention
    .

Isabel Quiroz, executive director of iQonsulting, noted that exports of frozen blueberries from Chile are expected to increase to 60,000 tons or more, an increase of more than 14% from the previous quarter, maintaining growth momentum and diversification
    of the market.
Chilean frozen blueberries retain the sweetness of the fruit, and are mostly hand-harvested, guaranteeing high quality and are recognized
    all over the world.

Quiroz also stressed that this season's fresh blueberries are under better conditions, such as lower temperatures for better
    fruit quality.
In addition, the number of workers in blueberry harvesting, packaging and logistics operations has increased
    this season.
