Endovascular therapy (EVT) treatment benefits up to 24 hours.

However, a considerable number of patients receiving treatment have a poor prognosis.

CT perfusion imaging (CTP) has the potential to identify patients with good prognosis after EVT treatment.

Therefore, a scholar from the Netherlands Miou Koopman et al.
conducted a study to evaluate the correlation between the ischemic core and penumbra volume assessed by CTP and functional outcome in patients undergoing EVT in current clinical practice.

The results of the study will be announced at LB1.

Study Introduction The study analyzed data from a multicenter randomized clinical trial of endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke conducted in the Netherlands (MR CLEAN study) registry from July 2016 to November 2017.

    Researchers use Siemens syngo.
via software to process CTP data.

The main outcome was the 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score.

Multivariate logistic regression and ordinal regression were used to analyze the relationship between ischemic core and penumbra volume and good outcome (defined as mRS 0-2) and the relationship between ischemic core volume and mRS to a better outcome.

Main findings ➤ CTP ischemic core volume and good prognosis [adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 0.
    80/10mL, 95% CI: 0.
    70-0.
    89, p=0.
0002] and changes in mRS [aOR: 0.
    81/10 mL, 95% CI: 0.
    74-0.
    90, p<0.
0001] Correlation. ➤ The correlation between CTP ischemic core volume and good outcome is shown in Figure 1.

Penumbra volume has nothing to do with good endings or changes in mRS.

Figure 1 Correlation between CTP ischemic core volume and good outcome Conclusion The ischemic core volume assessed by CTP is associated with a good prognosis, and can play a role in identifying patients who may receive EVT treatment and have a good prognosis.
