Chilean salmon producer Blumar believes that in 2023 Chile will be ready to become China's main salmon supplier again, regaining lost market share
    .

Daniel Montoya, director of marketing at Blumar, told UCN: "Chilean exports of chilled salmon to China in 2022 are still very limited, mainly due to many constraints, but sales of frozen salmon have recovered
    strongly.
We are seeing an important growth trend in frozen salmon exports starting in 2021 and believe this trend will continue in 2023
    .

"We think it's possible for Chile to regain its rightful place in the Chinese market again, with exports expected to return to 2018, 2019 levels, much higher than what we've seen in the last two years
    .
    " Montoya said
    .

In the first 10 months of 2022, Chilean frozen salmon exports to China were about 11,000 tons, and "exports for the whole year are expected to reach 1.
    3-14,000 tons, which is comparable
    to pre-pandemic exports.
" Chile still has room to continue to grow compared to history, and Blumar is undoubtedly well positioned to have significant clients and offices
    in Asia.
    Montoya said
    .

In January 2022, Blumar Asia opened in Shanghai, with Nicolas Terrazas, former General Manager of New World Currents, serving as CEO
    of Blumar Asia.
Blumar Asia expands to many other countries and regions in Asia, including Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan
    .

"We will be able to process and communicate more smoothly in the same time zone, and China will ease Covid travel restrictions, making it easier and more convenient
    to visit customers," Montoya noted.
If you are traveling from Chile, it takes more than 30 hours to reach any of these countries, so opening an office in Shanghai is closer to our customers and helps us develop new products
    together with them.

Terrazas told UCN: "It was natural for us to use the restructuring and existing resources to market all of Blumar's products in Asia
    .
Our team has moved to Vietnam and is currently working on various projects
    in Southeast Asia.
We believe Chilean bamboo fish products have a large market in Asia, and looking ahead, we expect these products to achieve significant growth
    in the Asian market.

In addition to salmon farming, Blumar is one of the largest fishing companies in Chile, with production lines for fishmeal, fish oil, and other pelagic fish
    .
Blumar Asia's Shanghai office is also responsible for the sale of bamboo and other fish
    to Asian customers.
