News: BASF Open Innovation Competition was officially launched recently to solicit ideas on renewable energy storage. Entrants are required to submit sustainable technologies that can store grid power and return it on demand. BASF will work with businesses, scientists, startups and investors to find efficient and cost-effective long-term storage solutions for electricity, for example by reducing investment costs. Chemical innovation should play a key role in the proposal.
contestants can submit their ideas to NineSights by June 2, 2015. BASF employees are not accepted for this competition. A jury of BASF and outside experts will be responsible for selecting the best proposals, with up to five winners. The winners will be announced in November 2015 with a prize of 100,000 euros each. Winners will also have the opportunity to work with BASF on research and development projects.
the competition, which aims to solicit ideas and build connections, is an important part of BASF's 150th anniversary celebrations. Genesis group Yinghui uses a variety of novel ways, including virtual online exchanges, live discussions, and three scientific seminars, to solicit and discuss ideas on energy, food and urban life. The aim is to brainstorm and bring together all parties to develop solutions to social challenges. The Open Innovation Competition on Energy Storage is hosted by BASF's Process Research and Chemical Engineering research department.
