BASF, Saudi Basic Industries and Linde signed a joint agreement to jointly develop and promote electric heating solutions for steam crackers.
At present, the three parties to the agreement have carried out conceptual research on the use of renewable electricity to replace traditional fossil fuel gases in the heating process.
By introducing innovative measures in the core process of "heating", the petrochemical industry, the three parties strive to provide promising solutions to empower the chemical industry and significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
In the production of basic chemicals, steam crackers play a vital role.
For this cooperative project, BASF and Saudi Basic Industries have combined their respective technological advantages and intellectual property rights in the field of chemical process development, as well as the deep experience and expertise accumulated by both parties in the operation of steam crackers over the years.
