BASF and Suzhou Ruigao New Materials Co., Ltd. ("Suzhou Ruigao"), a well-known Chinese synthetic leather manufacturer, today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to launch the establishment of a joint development laboratory for synthetic leather.
the laboratory is located at the Suzhou Riga Research Center and is committed to improving the productivity of synthetic leather and the sustainability of its production processes through the use of BASF's innovative solutions. The laboratory will also serve as a development platform where the two sides can jointly study product prototypes in various applications

The joint research and development laboratory is based on more than five years of cooperation between the two sides, BASF will focus on technology, product development and production of polyurethane solutions, and Suzhou Riga will be responsible for synthetic leather applications in different industries such as automotive, consumer goods, furniture, etc.

, Vice President of Consumer Products in BASF's Asia Pacific Property Materials Division, recently improved the production process for synthetic leather using a solvent-free solution that does not use organo tin. The process complements the water-based surface layer and is one of the indispensable solutions in the production process.
