Omya and BASF have decided to extend their existing partnership in the pilot coating center for paper and paperboard.
In 2003, the two companies decided to join forces to link their technologies in the field of paper and cardboard coatings.
"The pilot coating center facilitates the effective transfer of technical solutions, new product development, and optimized formulations from the laboratory to the paper mill, while reducing risks.
Karlheinz Hurst, Director of Technical Services at Omya International AG, said: "In the past two years, we have seen other market players reduce their services to the industry.
Thomas Schiele, Vice President of Dispersants for BASF's Adhesives, Fiber Bonding and Paper Coating Business, said: "The European paper coating market is undergoing tremendous changes.
"We invest millions of Euros every year to maintain and improve our equipment.
"For Omya, entering BASF’s test coating center is an important asset for the development of innovative paper and cardboard packaging solutions and their proof of concept.
In addition to continuing cooperation, the two companies will continue to independently sell their paper industry products and services.
