Timber species are a kind of important resource plants closely related to human beings, and are of great value for maintaining the service functions of global ecosystems and protecting biodiversity
In order to evaluate the potential of DNA barcode technology as a tool for identification of wood species, Li Jie, a researcher at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a plant phylogeny and conservation biology research team.
Related research results were recently published online in Molecular Ecology Resources under the title Assessing candidate DNA barcodes for Chinese and internationally traded timber species

A comparative analysis of the identification success rate of four barcode fragments based on different methods (Dataset1 represents the data set of commonly used wood species in China, and Dataset2 represents the data set of commonly used wood species in China and international trade)
Comparative analysis of the identification ability of single barcode and barcode combination based on distance method (R, rbcL; M, matK; T, trnH-psbA; S, ITS2)
Statistical analysis of the identification success rate and species-genus ratio of Chinese timber species at family level (A: rbcL, B: matK, C: trnH-psbA, D: ITS2)
