On January 5, Bakkafrost, a Faroese salmon producer, announced its production data for the fourth quarter of 2021.
Salmon production reached 25,800 tons in the whole quarter, of which 20,700 tons were produced in the Faroe Islands and 5,100 tons were produced in Scotland
.

For the full year of 2021, Bakkafrost produced about 67,200 tons in the Faroe Islands and 29,700 tons in Scotland, for a total production of 96,900 tons (HOG equivalent), an increase of more than 10,000 tons compared to 2020 (85,600 tons)

In December, Bakkafrost reported abnormal salmon deaths in Scotland, which are expected to have a knock-on effect on the company's full-year profits
