A new study by American researchers and their collaborators published in Nutrition recently shows that taking an avocado a day can help women redistribute abdominal fat and make them healthier
105 overweight and obese adults participated in a randomized controlled trial and provided them with one meal a day for 12 consecutive weeks
"We are interested in the effect of eating avocado on the way an individual stores body fat
Participants were divided into two groups.
The results showed that the female participants who consumed avocado every day had a reduction in abdominal visceral fat, which is an indeterminate fat associated with a high risk, and a reduction in the ratio of visceral fat to subcutaneous fat, which indicates that the fat has been renewed.
"Although eating avocado every day does not change glucose tolerance, we have learned that the dietary pattern of eating avocado every day affects individuals to store fat in a wholesome way, which is beneficial to women
The researchers said that they hope to carry out a follow-up study to provide participants with all the daily meals and to study other markers of intestinal health and physical health in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of the metabolic effects of avocado and determine whether there is still a difference between men and women.
