Introduction: in recent years, China's soybean crushing capacity has expanded rapidly beyond the normal range, which has attracted extensive attention of relevant government departments and all sectors of society In September 2004, the national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce entrusted our association to carry out statistical work of soybean crushing capacity and carry out industrial early warning Therefore, with the strong support and active cooperation of relevant departments and member units, our association has made a preliminary statistical investigation on soybean crushing enterprises in China Now the relevant situation is summarized as follows: first, the statistical scope According to the actual situation faced by this statistical survey, our association has determined that the scope of this statistical survey is: the crushing enterprises that are still operating in China's soybean producing areas and related areas and processing more than 200 tons of soybeans per day, and will process the completed soybeans per day in China Crushing enterprises of over 1000 tons are the focus of this statistical investigation 2 Processing capacity: according to the preliminary survey and statistics of our association, as of December 31, 2004, there are 169 soybean crushing enterprises with a daily processing capacity of 233700 tons of soybean, which is equivalent to 70.1 million tons of annual processing capacity based on 300 working days Among them, 90 processing enterprises with a daily processing capacity of more than 1000 tons of soybeans have an average daily processing capacity of 2192 tons, which is equivalent to an annual processing capacity of 59.2 million tons, accounting for 84.4% of the total soybean crushing capacity 3 Distribution of production capacity: according to the preliminary statistical survey, the soybean crushing enterprises that are still operating in China and handle more than 200 tons of soybean per day are distributed in 19 provinces, cities and autonomous regions Among them, more than 1000 tons of soybean processing oil extraction enterprises are mainly distributed in Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi coastal areas There are 63 soybean crushing enterprises with a capacity of more than 1000 tons in these seven regions, and the daily processing capacity of soybean is 144000 tons, accounting for 73% of the total processing capacity of the enterprises with a capacity of more than 1000 tons in China 4 The crushing capacity exceeds the market demand From the perspective of the resource supply of soybean crushing in China, of the 18 million tons of domestic soybeans in 2004, more than 9 million tons were used for oil pressing, and 20.23 million tons of imported soybeans in the same year Therefore, in 2004, the raw material supply of China's soybean crushing industry was more than 29 million tons, far lower than the annual soybean crushing capacity of 70.1 million tons Based on the analysis of the market demand of soybean meal, the consumption of soybean meal in China in 2004 is estimated to be 21 million tons, equivalent to more than 26 million tons of soybeans; the export of soybean meal in 2004 is 656000 tons, equivalent to more than 800000 tons of soybeans In total, the market capacity of soybean meal in 2004 was less than 22 million tons, about 27 million tons Therefore, the current soybean crushing capacity is more than 2.6 times of the actual demand of soybean meal market, and the annual average operating rate of soybean crushing industry is less than 40% 5 Main problems: most of the enterprises in the industry think that the surplus of soybean crushing capacity has brought some new problems These problems are mainly in the following three aspects: first, overcapacity leads to fierce competition among soybean crushing enterprises, which increases investment risk and operation risk Second, the layout of large-scale soybean crushing enterprises is not reasonable The phenomenon of one port with many factories has appeared in port cities such as Dalian and Dongguan, which has made the operation of enterprises more difficult and risky Third, the competition for raw materials among soybean crushing enterprises, the decentralization of procurement, the lack of a coordinated external and unified ordering mechanism increase the uncertainty of the domestic market In addition, there are still some soybean oil pressing enterprises whose technology is not advanced enough, equipment is relatively backward, and the task of structural adjustment and technological transformation of soybean oil pressing industry is quite heavy In view of these problems and other problems existing in China's soybean crushing industry, the State Council and relevant national departments have formulated a series of industrial policies and are gradually implementing them We believe that the urgent task is to take measures to avoid further blind expansion of soybean processing capacity, and to actively explore the way of joint industry Here, we hope that investors from all walks of life should face up to the reality of excessive soybean crushing capacity rationally, make prudent choices and invest cautiously.
