October 19, 2020 // -- In a recent study published in the international journal Angiogenesis, scientists from the University of Eastern Finland and others gained new insights into the unknown effects of specific factors that regulate angiogenesis. Protein 6 (BMP6, bone morphogenetic factor 6) may regulate the formation of blood vessels in the body through vascular endodertic growth factors 2 (VEGFR2) and Hippo signaling pathfages, and the findings are expected to help scientists develop new treatments for cardiovascular disease.
Photo Source: Pulkkinen et al. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Western countries, in many diseases, the rate of circulation of blood flow is reduced by blood vessel stenosis, which can lead to insufficient infusion of the body's tissues and lack of oxygen, so cardiovascular production may provide a new treatment for the treatment of related diseases, of course, the development of related therapies also requires researchers to understand in depth the cell signaling mechanisms that regulate the formation of neovesel formation.
BMP was one of the earliest growth factors to act as a key regulator during bone formation, and researchers have since come to discover that it plays an important regulatory role in the development and maintenance of a range of tissues, and BMPs are particularly important for the development and functional maintenance of the cardiovascular system. In addition, BMPs can help regulate the mechanisms of angiogenesic formation, but the specific molecular mechanisms of which are not known to researchers, and little is known about the interconnected communication mechanisms between BMP signals and VEGF (known vascular formation regulators) molecular machines.
the study, the researchers found that the transfer of the VEGF gene and the lack of tissue oxygen may induce the expression of BMPs, and then for the first time studied the mechanisms by which BMP6 matings regulate vascular formation, noting that BMP6 can be signaled through VEGFR2 and Hippo. The path plays a key role in the functioning of endothocytes, which is achieved by inducing the nuclear positioning of the Hippo signaling path, which plays an important role in tissue size control and cell proliferation, but its abnormal function is often directly related to cancer.
the results of this paper may help to understand the mechanisms of multifactoral communication of cellular signaling path paths during angiogenesis, while BMP6 and Hippo signaling paths may hopefully help scientists develop new treatments for cardiovascular disease.
the researchers say they will continue to delve deeper into how multiple cell types interact in vascular disease, with the ultimate goal of using the results to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in humans.
