    TOKYO, Dec.
    17 (Sputnik) -- An outbreak of bird flu in Saitama Prefecture, adjacent to Tokyo, has seen an outbreak of bird flu and 194,000 chickens culled
    , according to Japan's NHK television.
     
    According to reports, a poultry farm in Saitama Prefecture found 76 poultry dead on the 16th, 9 of which were tested to carry highly pathogenic avian influenza virus
    .
     
    This is the third outbreak
    in Saitama Prefecture this season.
    The culling began on the morning of 17 December and will continue until 23 December
    .
    In addition, authorities have quarantined the transportation of chickens and eggs within a three-kilometer radius of the affected farm, and banned the transportation of chickens and eggs beyond 10 kilometers

    According to Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, more than 5 million chickens have been culled
