Algeria's mainstream Arabic media "Izvestia" published a report on March 1 entitled "Algeria does not import soft wheat from Russia and Ukraine ".
The full text is excerpted as follows:

Ukraine is a major supplier of soft wheat to some West Asian and North African countries (Egypt and Lebanon) and European countries (Turkey and Italy), but Algeria hardly imports soft wheat from Ukraine
    .
Western Europe, or the European Union, is the most important supplier of soft wheat to Afghanistan
    .
Afghanistan imports no more than 300,000 tons of wheat from Ukraine and Russia
    .

In the context of the Ukraine-Russia crisis, due to the spread of nervousness, the spot price of wheat in the international market has reached a historical high in nine years
    .
Supply concerns caused by the Ukraine-Russia crisis have sent wheat futures prices soaring
    .
Given that Ukraine and Russia are the world's largest source of grain supply, Ukraine's wheat exports account for 25% of the world's total exports, and corn exports account for 20% of the total
    .
Therefore, the escalation of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict poses a threat to the food supply of many countries
    .

Chicago wheat prices surged to a 14-year high of €344/t
    .
However, the price has fallen slightly in the past two days, and the price of the Paris exchange is 308.
    25 euros / ton
    .

Russia's current annual wheat output is about 75-85 million tons, accounting for 10%-12% of the global total.
Since 2016, Russia has become the world's largest wheat producer
    .
Russia exports 35-40 million tons of wheat each year, accounting for 20%-23% of the world's total exports
    .

Despite this, Algeria is not a big customer of Ukrainian and Russian wheat exports
    .
The wheat imported by Afghanistan is divided into soft wheat and hard wheat.
France is the most important soft wheat supplier to Afghanistan, accounting for 55%-75% of Afghanistan's total imports, and the rest comes from Germany and the Baltic countries
    .
A hard wheat comes from North America, Argentina and other South American countries
    .

In October 2020, Afghanistan relaxed the standards for imported wheat, allowing importers to offer wheat from the Black Sea regions such as Russia or Ukraine in the tender for high-protein wheat
    .
Despite this, the supply of wheat in the Black Sea region is still very low, not exceeding 300,000 tons.
The total amount of grain imported by Afghanistan is about 11-13 million tons each year, of which 7.
5 million tons are wheat, mainly soft wheat
    .
For many countries in West Asia and North Africa, price is an important factor.
Ukraine and Russia are the most important suppliers.
For example, Lebanon imports 600,000-650,000 tons of wheat every year, of which 80% comes from Ukraine
    .
In 2021, 50% of Egypt's wheat imports will come from Russia and 30% from Ukraine
    .
