July 6 ( Reuters) - Ukraine will harvest 28 million tonnes of wheat this summer , down from last year's record crop of 32 million tonnes, French consultancy Agritel said on Wednesda.

This is based on the harvested area of 8 million hectares, down from the 7 million hectares farmers initially plant.
The national average wheat yield is forecast at 8 tons per hecta.

Agritel's production forecast is higher than the 28 million tonnes forecast by the Ukrainian grain traders' union UGA earlier on Wednesd.

Agritel estimates that of the wheat production, 11 million tonnes will come from Ukraine's controlled are.
