ADAD autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease (ADAD) is a rare single-genotype of Alzheimer's disease
.
However, the average age of ADAD and sporadic AD at clinical onset is different: the average age of onset of ADAD is in their 40s, while sporadic AD begins more often in their 70s
.
Since β-amyloid precursor protein (APP), progerin-1 (PSEN1) and progerin-2 (PSEN2) are the three main pathogenic genes that cause ADAD, 17 research centers from around the world have joined forces to explore the frequency and significance of neurological examination results in gene mutation carriers in AD to further confirm the neurological examination characteristics
of Alzheimer's disease.
The results found that the frequency of neurological examination abnormalities in the carriers of gene mutations was 65.
In addition to this, the mutation carriers experienced a faster decline in cognitive function and greater
atrophy of the parietal temporal lobe and hippocampus.
