of bee innate immunity in the genomics and transcriptomics dimensions.
The results were published in the International journal of Molecular Sciences
.
As important pollinators, bees play an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance and increasing crop yield and quality; At the same time, as a representative insect of solitary, primary social and advanced sociality, it is also a hot spot
in insect research.
In recent years, bee populations have been seriously threatened by harmful factors such as pathogens and environmental stress; These hazards trigger or inhibit the only immune system of the bee, the innate immune system, which in turn affects the health of
the colony.
What's more interesting is that social bee species also have social immunity characteristics, which cooperate with innate immunity to maintain the health of
bee colonies.
Omics technology not only revealed the genetic characteristics of the innate immune system of different social bee species, but also showed the relevant immune response triggered by the above harmful factors.
This provides a basis
for further research on key immune response genes against the above hazards.
