Background: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) frequently involves the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
Objectives: 1) To develop consensus-based, interdisciplinary recommendations for the management of orofacial manifestations in JIA
Methods: Recommendations were developed through an online survey of relevant patients, a systematic literature review, evidence-based recommendations generated during two consensus meetings, and iterations of Delphi research involving external experts
The course includes disciplines involved in the treatment of orofacial manifestations of JIA: paediatric rheumatology, radiology, orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral and facial pain specialists, and paediatric dentistry
RESULTS: Three general management principles and 12 interdisciplinary management recommendations for orofacial manifestations in JIA were outlined
Conclusion: This recommendation is the first interdisciplinary recommendation to guide the clinical management of TMJ-JIA
