Objectives: Primary cardiac involvement in systemic sclerosis (SSc) accounts for one-third of SSc -related deaths and traditionally includes conduction block, arrhythmia , and nonischemic cardiomyopath.

Methods: Patients with SSc from the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center cohort from November 1 , 2006 to November 1 , 2017 with ≥ 1 analyzable two-dimensional ( 2 -D ) echocardiography (n=806.

Results: DD was present in 16% of SSc patient.

Conclusions: DD was independently associated with an increased risk of death in patients with SS.
