Scientists answer: What leisure activities can reduce the risk of dementia?
According to a recent meta-analysis published in neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology, leisure activities such as reading books, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends may help reduce the risk

Intellectual activities mainly include intellectual pursuits such as reading or writing enjoyment, watching television, listening to radio, playing games or musical instruments, using computers, and doing crafts
Sports activities include walking, running, yoga, swimming, sports, cycling, use of fitness equipment and dancing
Social activities mainly refer to activities that communicate with people, including attending classes, volunteering, participating in social clubs, visiting relatives and friends, and participating in religious activities
"This meta-analysis shows that being active is beneficial, and that there are a lot of activities that are easily integrated into daily life that may be beneficial to the brain," Lu said
The study was limited by the fact that people reported their own physical and mental activity, so they may not have properly remembered and reported activity
