As Zambia's solar project partner, Zambia Kazang Solar received US$1.
6 million in project financing to provide home lighting products
to more than 7,000 rural households in Zambia.
Azuri provides pay-as-you-go (PAYG) solar home systems for off-grid homes in Africa and has been working
with Zambia's Kazang since 2016.
The investment will help Kazang Solar provide the Azuri Quad solar home lighting system, which includes 10W solar panels, four bright LED lights, USB ports and connectors for cell phone charging, rechargeable radios and rechargeable flashlights
.
Funding comes from AECF's Renewable Energy and Climate Adaptation Technologies (REACT) window, of which Kazang Solar is one of only three companies to receive funding, which is also funded
by the UK's Department for International Development (DfID).
Kazang Solar is a sister company to Kazang, Zambia's largest provider of electronic vending services, serving more than 100,000 customers daily
.
The CEO of Azuri said, "This is an exciting new development
for Kazang and Azuri.
Because both companies are striving to provide reliable solar home solutions
for homes in Zambia.
The fund supports innovation and transformational business models and Azuri looks forward to working with and providing ongoing support to Kazang as they deliver life-changing solar technology
to customers across the country.
