    Voltalia has signed a 50MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
    for a 50MW solar project in Kopere, Nadi County, Kenya.

    The PPA agreement was signed with the national utility Kenya Electric Power Company (KPLC) for a period of 20 years
    .

    The CEO of Voltalia said, "This new project confirms our ambitions in Africa, a sunny continent where a large part of the population still has little or no access to electricity
    .
    The project also highlights the benefits of the Martifer Solar acquisition to meet the
    2020 target.

    The project was initiated by Martifer Solar and subsequently developed by a joint team following Voltalia's acquisition of Martifer Solar in August 2016.

    The Kenyan government aims to achieve universal access to electricity by 2020

    Last August, the World Bank said it was providing $150 million in off-grid solar credit
    to marginalized communities in Kenya.

    The Voltalia consortium has also been pre-qualified for the tender for the 25MW(AC) Scaling solar project in Madagascar
