According to VNA news, Vietnam and China have completed the animal and plant quarantine negotiations on the export of durians and are waiting for China’s official access .

According to reports, China has always been the largest export market for Vietnamese durians, accounting for about 70% of Vietnam's durian production
    .
Since there is no official access to China, Vietnamese durians have been exported to China through border trade or pretending to be Thai durians
    .
At the beginning of 2019, China increased the inspection of fruit trade in Sino-Vietnamese border trade and required Vietnamese fruit to enter China through regular trade channels, which hindered the export of Vietnamese durians
    .

Le Thanh Tung, deputy director of Vietnam's Crop Production Department, said that China and Vietnam were ready to sign an export protocol.
If there is no impact of the epidemic, the formal export negotiation of Vietnamese durians to China was originally planned to be completed in 2020
    .

The Vietnamese side said that the biggest obstacle to exporting Vietnamese durians to China is ensuring the traceability of the products
    .
The Chinese side requires that the exported durians must come from the growing areas and packaging plants authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, and have a code issued by the General Administration of Customs of China
    .

The durian cultivation in Vietnam is mainly concentrated in the middle and high altitude areas in the south and the center, with an annual output of about 600,000 tons
    .
Vietnamese durians are mainly harvested from April to the end of July, and the by-product period is from October to March of the following year.
The varieties include Ri6 and Muangthong
    .
Currently, there are about 50,000-60,000 hectares of durian plantations in Vietnam for export, mainly in the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tien Giang and Dak Lak
