Vestas received an order
from PacifiCorp, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy.
The order is for 47 V110-2.
0 MW turbines delivered in 1.
8 MW power optimization mode to restart the Goodnoe Hills wind power project
in Washington, USA.
Under the order, PacifiCorp relicenses the project's existing 47 Senvion MM92 2MW turbines, increasing the project's nameplate capacity from the original 94 MW to 103 MW
.
The project was originally commissioned
in 2008.
Restarting existing and aging wind projects with new wind turbine technologies can yield substantial returns
from increased annual energy production and reduced operating costs.
By repowering, owners and operators can benefit from replacing old equipment with advanced technology while significantly reducing operating costs
.
With the world's largest installed capacity and service base, Vestas is uniquely positioned to leverage operational and technical insights gained from the world's largest wind database to develop re-power solutions
for Vestas and non-Vestas wind turbines.
With the Goodnoe Hills order, Vestas demonstrates its ability to
apply technical insights and capabilities to develop and certify multi-brand repower solutions.
Today's order follows PacifiCorp's 234-megawatt order with Vestas to restart the Marengo I and II projects
in Washington.
"As wind energy technology continues to evolve, Vestas is able to leverage our technical expertise, operational insights and unmatched global supply chain to deliver regained benefits
to customers of all turbine types," said Vestas' President of Sales and Service in the U.
S.
and Canada.
Updating existing projects with Vestas technology can bring more value and performance to customers from existing assets and extend the lifetime benefits
of these projects.
”
PacifiCorp is a leading utility in the renewable energy sector, with more than 1,000 MW of wind projects
in Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
The order includes the supply and commissioning of turbines and a long-term service agreement designed to ensure optimal performance
of the project.
It is understood that turbine deliveries will begin
in the first quarter of 2019.
