Professor Xuejuan Wang and Professor Gang Cai of the University of Science and Technology of China used single-particle cryo-EM technology to analyze the structure of endogenous activation of ATR kinase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells, and revealed a new mechanism
Genome stability maintenance is the basis of
In the previous work, Cai Gang's research group reported the first high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy structure of ATR kinase, discovered and named several key regulatory domains, elucidated its mechanism of action, and proposed a molecular mechanism model for strict regulation of ATR kinase (Science, 2017).
Professor Xuejuan Wang and Professor Gang Cai's research group collaborated to induce cells using two gene toxins, HU and MMS, respectively, to obtain the cryo-electron microscopy structure of ATR kinase activated by DNA replication pressure and DNA double-strand break pressure, revealing that ATR kinase adopts symmetric activation and asymmetric activation - two different activation modes.
