    Foreign media, March 23: Ukraine-based consultancy APK-Inform on Wednesday forecast Ukraine's 2022 cereal production to fall to 38.

    Ukrainian grain exports in2022/23 (July-June) are expected to fall to nearly 30 million tonnes, down 32% year-on-year, including 10 million tonnes of wheat and 19 million tonnes of corn

    Exports in 2021/22 are expected to fall by 3% year-on-year
     
    The company also lowered Ukrainian grain exports for 2021/22 to 44 million tonnes, down 29 percent from its earlier forecast and 3 percent from 2020/212 exports

    When the conflict broke out between Russia and Ukraine on February 24, the wheat and barley years had passed 7 months, on average Ukraine exported about 80% of its wheat and 89% of its barley during this period; the corn year had passed 5 months Ukraine typically exports about 53 percent of its corn during the five-month period

    For comparison, Ukraine exported 81% of wheat, 95% of barley and 60% of maize during the same period in 2021/22

      Ukrainian forces have suspended operations at Black Sea ports since the conflict began

    Ukraine transports 99% of its total grain exports through ports

    Currently Ukraine can make some exports by rail along the western border, but the capacity to export by rail is much lower compared to ports

    In addition, further exports of Ukrainian wheat and barley are also limited by the lack of EU demand

      As a result, APK-Inform lowered Ukraine's 2021/22 wheat export target by 19% to 18.
