On November 30, Sinopec held cloud launching ceremonies in Beijing, Urumqi and Kuqa, Xinjiang, announcing the official start of construction of China's first 10,000-ton-scale photovoltaic green hydrogen demonstration project - Sinopec Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project.
It is the largest photovoltaic green hydrogen production project under construction in the world, with an annual output of 20,000 tons of green hydrogen after it is put into operation
.
The first large-scale use of photovoltaic power generation to directly produce hydrogen in China
The Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project has a total investment of nearly 3 billion yuan, mainly including five major parts: photovoltaic power generation, power transmission and transformation, hydrogen production by electrolysis of water, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen transmission
.
◆To build a photovoltaic power station with an installed capacity of 300 MW and an average annual power generation of 618 million kWh
◆A new electrolyzed water hydrogen production plant with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons will be built
◆A new hydrogen storage spherical tank with a hydrogen storage capacity of about 210,000 standard cubic meters will be built
◆A new hydrogen pipeline with a hydrogen transmission capacity of 28,000 standard cubic meters per hour and supporting power transmission and transformation facilities will be built
The project is expected to be completed and put into production in June 2023.
The green hydrogen produced will be supplied to Sinopec Tahe Refinery, replacing the existing natural gas and fossil energy for hydrogen production
.
It is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 485,000 tons per year, contribute an average of 130 million yuan to the local GDP and create more than 18 million yuan in tax revenue
.
Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project has four advantages of abundant resources, green and low carbon, large-scale application and technological breakthrough.
A typical demonstration project of the whole process of green hydrogen production-utilization such as green hydrogen refining and chemical industry

After the project is put into operation, it will create a new development path for green hydrogen refining and chemical industry, and it will have a significant demonstration effect on the large-scale use of green hydrogen by refining and chemical enterprises to achieve carbon emission reduction

At the same time, all major equipment, machinery and core materials will be localized, and the photovoltaic modules, electrolyzed water "heart" electrolyzers, hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen pipelines and other major equipment, machinery and core materials used in the project will all be localized.
It is of great significance to promote the rapid development of the domestic hydrogen production equipment industry
