At the 2022 World Clean Energy Equipment Conference held from August 27 to 29, the world's first carbon dioxide (CO₂) + flywheel energy storage demonstration project was unveiled as one of the eight demonstration application scenarios

The project is jointly built by Dongfang Electric Group Dongfang Steam Turbine Co.

The project combines the advantages of carbon dioxide energy storage with long time, large scale and fast response speed of flywheel energy storage to solve the intermittent problem and realize the safe operation of the power grid
