Recently, statistics released by the Japan Petrochemical Industry Association show that the utilization rate of ethylene equipment in Japan was 83.
2%
in September.
This is the second consecutive month that the data has been below the 90% economic target
.
According to statistics from the Japan Petrochemical Industry Association, Japan's ethylene production in September was 405,000 tons, down 24%
year-on-year.
Among them, production volume decreased by 13% year-on-year due to regular maintenance of production equipment, but due to the decrease in market demand, equipment utilization rate decreased by 24%
year-on-year.
Factors affecting demand include continued decline in exports to China and rising
prices in Japan.
Thanks to the recovery of demand in the Chinese market, the utilization rate of ethylene equipment in Japan exceeded 90%
in July.
However, by August, also affected by the Chinese market, the utilization rate of ethylene equipment in Japan fell below 90% again

The data also showed that shipments of four major resins in Japan, namely low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene, were all lower than the same period last year in
September.
Shipments of three resins, with the exception of polystyrene, were the lowest in September in the past 10 years
