Dutch transmission system operators TenneT and Enexis announced in a joint press release that they are currently undertaking a series of operations to increase the capacity of their respective systems to accommodate more solar energy in the coming
years.
The Netherlands' two largest transmission operators expanded capacity to accommodate more solar energy on the grid
Especially in the northeastern region of the Netherlands, the provinces of Groningen and North Drend, around 200 MW of solar projects
are currently under construction.
These projects are part of
an SDE+ initiative to develop large-scale solar and renewable energy.
These provinces are also the least densely populated areas and can have a greater land supply
.
TenneT and Enexis also revealed that large-scale solar projects
of about 1 GW are currently being implemented in the two provinces.
"Capacity issues
may occur in the areas around Stadskanaal, Gasselte and Musselkanaal," the parties noted.
Due to the large number of potential solar parks, in order to prevent capacity bottlenecks, we are working with the two provinces and all relevant municipalities to develop appropriate measures
.
”
According to the National Renewable Energy Report released by the Netherlands Energy Research Centre (ECN) in cooperation with the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) last October, photovoltaic power generation in the Netherlands is expected to increase from 2.
9 GW today to 20 GW
by 2035.
Meanwhile, from 2014 to 2017, the government has auctioned and allocated about 4.
