Nigeria-based infrastructure company MainOne has confirmed that the submarine cable system MainOne will make landfall
in Senegal in September.
This marks the first path
of the two expansion lines of the system.
Previously, project developers MainOne and Orange Group announced in September 2018 that they would build two feeder lines connecting Dakar, Senegal, and Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire,
respectively.
Another feeder route to Côte d'Ivoire is expected to land in
October this year.
MainOne said that after landing in Senegal, the submarine cable system will directly connect the four largest countries in Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and Senegal, and will strengthen the digital ecosystems of each country, driving and improving Internet connectivity
