international research team says they have identified 20 new risk genes linked to allergic rhinitis, which could find new targets for the prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis.
Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, patients are mainly allergic to pollen, dust mites, animal hair, manifested as bursts of sneezing, nose a large number of watery snot, itchy nose, serious cases will appear itchy eyes, nasal congestion, loss of sense of smell and other symptoms.
The international team, led by the Munich Research Centre in Helmholtz, Germany, reported in the new issue of the British journal
that they collected data on nearly 900,000 people and conducted a net-pulling search of risk genes associated with allergic rhinitis to find genetic differences between allergic rhinitis patients and healthy people.
researchers first compared the genomes of 60,000 patients and 150,000 healthy people in the control group and identified 42 risk genes associated with allergic rhinitis, some of which have been documented in the study literature.
