An illuminance meter (or lux meter) is an instrument that measures illumination
.
It is to measure the degree to which the object is illuminated, that is, the ratio
of the luminous flux obtained on the surface of the object to the illuminated area.
Lux meters typically consist
of a selenium photocell or a silicon photocell with a filter and a microampere meter.
A photovoltaic cell is a photoelectric component that directly converts light energy into electrical energy
.
When light hits the surface of the selenium photocell, the incident light passes through the metal film 4 to the interface of the semiconductor selenium layer 2 and the metal film 4, producing a photoelectric effect
at the interface.
The magnitude of the photogenerated current is proportional
to the illuminance on the photocell receiving surface.
At this time, if the external circuit is connected, there will be a current passing through, and the current value will be
indicated from the microampere meter with the lux (Lx) as the scale.
The magnitude of the photocurrent depends on the intensity of the incident light
.
The illuminance meter has a gear shifter, so it can measure both high and low illumination
.
Use Step (1) to turn on the power
.
(2) Open the lid of the light detector and place the light detector horizontally in the measurement position
.
(3) Select the suitable measurement gear
.
If only "1" is displayed at the left end of the display, it means that the illumination is excessive, and you need to press the range key ((8) key to adjust the measurement multiple
.
(4) The illuminance meter starts to work and displays the illuminance value
on the display.
(5) The display data on the display screen is constantly changing, when the display data is relatively stable, press the HOLD key to lock the data
.
(6) Read and record the observations displayed in the reader
.
The observed value is equal to the product
of the displayed numbers and quantum values in the reader.
For example, 500 is displayed on the screen, the display status in the lower right corner is "×2000", and the illuminance measurement value is 1000000lx, that is, (500×2000).
(7) Press the lock switch again to cancel the reading lock function
.
(8) For each observation, read three consecutive times and record
.
(9) After each measurement work is completed, press the power on key to cut off the power supply
.
(10) Close the lid of the light detector and put it back in the
box.
