According to Keir Preedy, CEO of Solomon Cable, ships from the country's submarine cable system are scheduled to head to the Pacific
Ocean this weekend.
He said the completed submarine cable system, the Coral Submarine Cable System (CS2) and the Solomon Islands Domestic Network System (SIDN), is currently being loaded onto Alcatel's Ile de Batz cable ship
in Calais, France.
The ship will first travel to Port Moresby on 6 June and arrive in Honiara on 20 June to complete this phase of laying.
Mr Preedy said the final splicing of the cable system should be completed on 10 August, after which the vessel would return to Honiara to begin laying SIDN
at the end of August.
