Vodafone Wholesale, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, has started construction
of a second fibre optic network connecting Ghana with other landlocked countries in West Africa.
It is reported that the fiber network construction will connect several landlocked countries in West Africa, including Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire and Togo

In July 2018, the Government of Burkina Faso launched a new fibre optic link linking the capital Ouagadougou with Dakola near the Ghanaian border, Ghana's first project
to connect a fibre optic network to a landlocked country in West Africa.
Construction of the system began in October 2016 and was undertaken by Huawei of China, with a total length of 307 kilometers
