Basslink issued a notice that the restoration of service on the Basslink submarine cable will be delayed
again due to challenges beyond the company's control.

The resumption of Basslink submarine cable service will be delayed again

The Basslink submarine cable connecting George Town in Tasmania and Loy Yang in Victoria is expected to resume service in early June 2018, rather than the previously reported May 31
    , 2018.

According to Basslink, the delay was due to logistical and scheduling challenges
    beyond the company's control.

Malcolm Eccles, CEO of Basslink, said: "Due to the high degree of specialization of the equipment required and the time required to gain expertise, the restoration took longer
    than expected.
However, we now have a better idea
    of the expected timeline.
We will continue our efforts to reconnect the Basslink submarine cable as
    soon as possible.

Basslink added that the failure was not related
to the December 2015 power outage and the ongoing dispute in Tasmania.
