Turkey is holding a second round of wind farm tenders
under its Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) system.
Bids in the tender were evaluated on 18 April and the results will be published
on 30 May.
The four power plants will be located in four provinces, including Çanakkale, each with a capacity of 250 MW, for a total of 1 GW
.
Germany's Enercon and Turkish companies Beyçelik, Enerjisa and Ikkim were among the
bidders.
Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, said that by expanding investment and increasing production capacity, Turkey is becoming one of the global forces of
wind power.
Last August, a consortium of Siemens and local companies Türkerler and Kalyon won a tender
for 1,000 MW of wind energy capacity under the first YEKA system.
Since Turkey adopted its YEKA green energy policy in 2013, bids for renewable energy have increased

According to the WindEurope report, Turkey ranked seventh among European countries in wind power in 2018, with an installed wind power capacity of 7.
