Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin reported on the 24th that the number of cases of children with unexplained kidney disease in the country has increased to 245, of which 38 people were cured and discharged and 141 died
    .

    Sadikin made the above-mentioned briefing
on the same day after attending a special meeting chaired by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java Province.
The 245 cases were reported from 26 provinces across Indonesia, with 80% of them occurring in eight provinces
: Jakarta, West Java, Aceh, East Java, West Sumatra, Bali, Banten and North Sumatra.

Sadikin said Jokowi demanded that the top priority now be to investigate and remove the "poisons" that cause acute kidney disease of unknown cause and ensure that the people are not harmed
    .

Sadikin said that according to a survey of the drugs taken by patients and World Health Organization references, the cause may be dangerous chemicals
in the syrup taken by patients.
Previously, the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration conducted sampling tests on syrup drugs in the country and showed that the content of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol in 5 syrup drugs exceeded the standard
    .

Indonesia's health ministry has previously asked all health facilities and pharmacies in the country to temporarily stop prescribing or supplying liquid or syrup medicines
    .
Sadikin said that after the implementation of the measure, "the number of new patients admitted to hospital for acute kidney disease has been significantly reduced"
    .

In order not to affect the treatment of other diseases, the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration announced a "white list"
of 23 syrup drugs that have been identified as not containing harmful chemicals and can be taken safely.

Sadikin also reported on the same day that some emergency assistance drugs from Singapore and Australia that are currently not on the market in Indonesia and used to treat acute kidney disease in children have arrived in Indonesia by special air and will be used for patient treatment
