    Britain-based Octopus Energy Group on Thursday announced a financial and strategic partnership with Xlinks to serve the Xlinks Morocco-UK submarine cable project
    .

    The project is currently under development and is undergoing economic, environmental and archaeological impact assessments

    It is expected to come online in 2027 and provide electricity
    at £48 ($59/€56) per megawatt-hour.

    The Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project will be a completely new power generation facility, entirely composed of solar and wind energy combined
    with battery storage facilities.
    Located in Morocco's renewable energy-rich Guelmim Oued Noun region, it covers an area of about 1,500 square kilometers and will be connected to the UK
    via 3,800 kilometers of high-voltage DC submarine cable.

    The project will use solar and wind energy to generate 10.
    5GW of zero-carbon electricity
    .
    By 2030, this is enough to provide low-cost, clean electricity
    to more than 7 million UK households.
    Once completed, the project will be able to meet 8% of the UK's electricity demand
