The MARS submarine cable system connecting Mauritius and Rodrigues has completed construction and will soon be operational

The cable is built by Mauritius Telecom in cooperation with Huawei Marine, with a total length of 730km system, using 100G WDM transmission technology, providing 16Tbps bandwidth design capacity, while PCCW Global is responsible for cable operation
.

In March 2017, Mauritius Telecom won a public tender from the government to provide Rodrigues with additional bandwidth capacity over the next 20 years, as the only winning bidder in the tender with an estimated total investment of US$97.
9 million for the entire project.
